I wouldn’t say it is exactly a funny story about how this got started, but for
the record….it was more curiosity than anything else….I had wanted to
encourage my son to tell his story about middle school – but he gave me that
weird look that said “Are you kidding? Why would I want to do that? I am
just way too busy” In the back of my mind I was thinking….”Sure,
you think I am crazy, but you want to build houses out of caves on an Internet
web game and hide from monsters at night in Mine craft…and I’m the crazy one.
So here I am starting off with no idea how to do this and hoping I can add some
pizazz with photos or something eventually. But I guess I need to get to the
point of the blog. I wanted to create a space to speak about issues We are
facing as parents of a middle schooler and some of what we go through every day
in our household. We are fairly new to our community so I don’t have a network
of moms whom I might have known since the daycare days. Instead, I only know a
couple of other moms from my sons school and am amazed at how each of us
individually muddles through things since none of us have been down this road
before.
So while we are heading out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday, I leave the
following question to anyone middle school parent who may be out there reading
this. What is your biggest surprise as your child transitioned frmo elementary
school to middle school?
